Help CareWell Meet the Needs of Seniors in Our Community

By Paulette Porter, Chief Operating Officer

Your voice matters! CareWell Services Southwest, the Area Agency on Aging serving Barry and Calhoun counties, wants to hear from you about what kind of services, support, and resources would be helpful for aging adults in our community.

Even if you’re not concerned about the services for yourself right now, you have family members, neighbors, and other loved ones who will benefit from services and programs available to those 60 and older. CareWell Services is here to serve seniors and we want to make sure we’re meeting the needs of our community.

We are inviting you, your family, friends, and neighbors to come out to one of our upcoming public hearings to discuss the Annual Implementation Plan for CareWell Services for fiscal year 2024-2025. We will be discussing the needs of adults over 60 in our community, what services are currently available, and what services you would like to see available in Barry and Calhoun counties.

If you’re interested in making sure you, your loved ones, and your neighbors are getting the services you need, come make your voice heard at a public hearing.

Your input will be used as we create the FY 2024-2025 Annual Implementation Plan (AIP) with the Bureau of Aging, Community Living, and Supports, Behavioral and Physical Health and Aging Services Administration, MDHHS. All interested parties are invited to provide input into the development of the AIP at the following public hearings:

May 20, 2024, at 4 pm Kool Family Community Center – Valentine Room

200 W. Michigan

Battle Creek, MI 49017

May 28, 2024, at 2 pm Barry County Commission on Aging

320 W. Woodlawn Avenue

Hastings, MI  49058

A summary of the AIP will be available for review by the public after May 6, 2024, and can be obtained from CareWell Services by calling 269-441-0917.

Members of the public do not need to attend the public hearing to provide input. Comments will be accepted through June 7, 2024. Written input will also be accepted in person, by letter, or email sent to the agency’s main office, located at:
