The Spirit of Gratefulness Fills Heritage Commons this November

Heritage Commons members holding up Starry Night art

As Thanksgiving approaches, the word “gratitude” becomes increasingly more prevalent. Many of us assume happier people are grateful, but that isn’t the correct order. It seems those that frequently relay their gratitude become the happy ones!

So…what are you thankful for? I’ll start…

I’m grateful for the beautiful fall colors and changing leaves. I’m grateful to have kicked cancer’s butt in 2020. I’m grateful that I have a big enough house that my sister and two nephews can live with me. I’m grateful for my three beagle-mix dogs. And I am grateful for Wendy Brown-Wieske’s dedication to Heritage Commons and her willingness to do whatever is needed to ensure our days run smoothly at the center.

During the month of November, check out our Gratitude Board in the library and feel free to add your own notes and pictures to it!

Thursday, November 10th at 3:00pm – Gratitude Zone – As Thanksgiving approaches, we are reminded of what we are grateful for in life. We will use this gratitude as a prompt to create our very own zine. A zine is a small booklet filled with original text and images.

Thursday, November 17th at 3:00pm – Recipe Illustration – Bring your favorite holiday recipe and transform it into a visual work of art. Let’s gather together to use cookbook illustrations and kitchen stories as inspiration.
