Join in the fun at Heritage Commons to experience the benefits of senior center membership

By Carl A. Gibson

For some people at certain points in time, being a part of the senior center community exemplifies a jigsaw puzzle experience. The emphasis, however, is not on the game as puzzling, but on coming together with new and long-standing friends, all of whom were new at some point in time. These friends and associates are the lifeline one draws upon when one experiences a loss or injury, be it the loss of one’s spouse, other family member, or a close friend.

The senior center is for a lifetime, yours and the other members. The new center location in the Marshall Plaza is a sight of which to be proud. We expect it to be open soon in January of 2022.

Do not wait until then to see your friends! Come join in the fun at the Marshall United Marshall Church, 721 US Hwy 27 N. Marshall. Our temporary home is available due to the graciousness of the UMC congregation.

Stop in at any time 9:00am to 2:00pm Monday, 9:00am to 4:00pm Wednesday, and 9:00am to 2:00pm Thursday to join in what is taking place at the center. Our current activities include aerobic fitness classes, Tai Chi, bingo, arts/painting, euchre, and other table games.

Come with some ideas of what you would like to see offered at the center. Your input can help determine our output, which then supports your interests and the activities to be shared with others.

Grow With Us as we rebuild the Heritage Common Senior Enrichment Center together. The initiative for rebuilding of the old Goodwill site in the Marshall Plaza is symbolic of Goodwill services: re-using and recycling facilities, goods/products, and building character through its community training and employment skills. Your participation and input are critical to what the Senior Center becomes!
