
Summer is here, the sun is shining, and events are happening everywhere you look. In each community, the streets are filled with people, vendors, and food. Get outside and get involved in the fun!
The Marshall Farmer’s Market coordinates a Free Summer Bingo for Seniors. Pick up a bingo sheet at Heritage Commons, the Marshall District Library, or at the Marshall Farmers Market on Green Street. The bingo sheet encourages different activities such as: Enjoy a walk in the park; Have a meal at a Senior Center; Donate a book to a lending library or a friend; Attend SHP Tai Chi. Submit your completed BINGO at the Farmers Market to earn Senior Market Bucks to use for fresh fruits and vegetables at the market. Summer Bingo is made possible by the Marshall Farmers Market, Marshall District Library, Heritage Commons Senior Enrichment Center, Forks Senior Center, Albion District Library, Senior Health Partners, Community Action Agency of South-Central Michigan, and is funded by the Calhoun County Senior Millage through a mini-grant.
The Calhoun County Senior Millage sponsors a Summer Concert Series for Seniors, free for anyone over 60. Doors will open at 2:30 with the shows beginning at 3:00 PM.
July 23 – Ian Stewart will perform his Classic Rock and Folk songs at Marshall United Methodist Church in Marshall. No registration required.
August 20 – Saline Fiddlers will perform at The Franke Center. RSVPs are requested, but not required. Call (269) 781-0001.
A free Centenarian Celebration will take place on Thursday, July 16 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Marshall United Methodist Church. Calhoun County Senior Services will honor county residents who are 99 years or older. This incredible event includes a booklet and banners with the honored folks and their stories. All community members are invited to attend at no cost.
