Caregivers need love too

Cassie Lucas-Moore, Marketing & Outreach Coordinator

As a caregiver, you are probably the last person to get their needs met. However, as in every airline safety discussion, you should put on your own oxygen mask first before you help someone else. This allows you to be able to help someone else. You cannot pour from an empty cup.

So, in the everyday life of a full-time caregiver, how can you take care of yourself? What is the best way to provide the needs of your loved one while getting your mask on first? At CareWell Services, we offer multiple programs to support the caregiver as well as those who are aging or disabled.

We would like to reintroduce you to our Powerful Tools for Caregivers series. This program will teach how to reduce stress, communicate effectively, make tough decisions and handle the challenges that come with being a caregiver. After the 6-week series meeting on Mondays from 1:30-3:30, you should feel empowered and supported to be able to provide the best care to your loved one and yourself.

The next session begins August 7 at the Kool Family Community Center at 200 W. Michigan Ave. There is NO CHARGE for this class. However, registration is required as the class size is limited. Call (269) 966-2450 to reserve your space.
